Real gross domestic product (GDP) increased at an annual rate of 0.4 percent in the fourth quarter of 2012, according to today’s third and final estimate. Corporate profits increased $45.4 billion in the fourth quarter, compared with $45.7 billion in the third quarter of 2012. GDP grew 2.2 percent for 2012 overall, compared with an increase of 1.8 percent in 2011.
