The ancient Greek philosopher Heraclitus (c. 535-475 BC) told his students, "Everything changes except the law of change." About five centuries before Christ he said, "You cannot step in the same river twice." Although this worldly-wisdom is from ages past, the truth remains. Change is a significant part of life. As we set goals and make plans for the future let's remember that old Roman phrase, "Seize the day." It may also serve us well to recall and meditate on the ancient Hebrew psalm, "This is the day the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it."
